Engineering Graphical Design (BTME101-21)

Course Objectives

This course aims to equip students with basic principles of engineering drawing and graphical design. It covers the use of various drawing instruments, dimensioning techniques, and the visualization of 3D objects to enable effective communication of ideas in engineering designs.

Course Outcomes

Detailed Syllabus

Unit I: Introduction to Engineering Drawing

Principles of engineering drawing, types of lines, drawing instruments, lettering, dimensioning, and geometric construction.

Unit II: Orthographic Projections

First and third angle projections, projection of points, lines, and planes in different orientations.

Unit III: Projections of Solids

Projections of simple solids like cubes, pyramids, and cones when positioned in various orientations relative to the reference planes.

Unit IV: Isometric Projections

Principles of isometric drawing, isometric views of solids like cylinders and prisms.

Unit V: CAD Practice

Using CAD software for creating drawings of machine components and assemblies.
